We are so lucky that once again this year, our son has another Outstanding Teacher, Mrs. Bush. He Loves her so much because she's "FUN"!! She makes learning a wonderful experience, and for that we're so grateful. Her Birthday was actually last week, but unfortunately we weren't informed in time to shower her with gifts on her special day. This gave me the idea to do something extra special for an extra special lady. She's kind and sentimental, so thought that it would be a nice idea to have my son make a handwritten note on fabric for her and I would hand embroider his handwriting in bright colors for a unique personalized gift.
I handed him a disappearing ink marker and asked him to hand write a note to Mrs. Bush wishing her a Happy Birthday. This is what he came up with. He added a heart, as he always does when he writes a note or signs a card. He also added a tulip which was a nice touch. I made sure to embroider on each of his lines just as he wrote them so it would be exactly his handwriting. To me, that's what makes it special.
I added the yellow daisy's because I love to do the lazy daisy stitch and I thought it filled in some of the empty spaces nicely with another pop of color. I added a green felt backing to hide the back of the handwork and then chain stitched around the perimeter of the piece adding more bright colors. It has exactly the handmade, childlike charm I was looking for.
This was a fun project for my son and I to do together and something he's excited to present to his teacher. It also gave us both a chance to show our appreciation to her for all the kind things she does everyday to make our son feel extra special.
Have a Happy Creative Day!!
